About RAMAT NEGEV:

Thanks to a generous grant from the United States Department of Agriculture, Theopolis College, in association with the Israeli Department of Commerce, has developed new drought resistent strains of wine grapes that thrive in the arid conditions of "Hanegev," the Negev Desert of Southern Israel. Desert hillsides, once barren and desolate, are now verdant with vinyardsRamat Negev is an ambitious new vintner whose existence is made possible by the new technology..

Through the intercession of Rachel Behar, PhD, a distinguished alumna of Theopolis, the college has secured research funding in excess of One Hundred Million Dollars ($100,000,000). Israel will be able to more than double her wine production, and to take her place among the second tier of global wine producers, such as New Zealand. Some may say that "intercession" is too strong a word, usually reserved for invoking Hashem, but the work of Dr. Behar has been nothing short of miraculous.

Ramat Negev's first bottling is now ready for market: NEVE MIDBAR 2011, a dry red in the tradition of fine French Cabernet's but at a small fraction of the price. We will hold a tasting at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Zack's place in Baltimore, Maryland. Please join us to sample this truly remarkable new red. Rachel Behar will attend to discuss her work that makes this wine's existence possible.
